Hey everyone, it’s Jessica and Lauren from CB Prime USA and we're here with Ben Powers, the offensive guard for the Denver Broncos! Ben's not just a force on the field; he's a force on the felt, too! Today, we're diving into his journey from Wichita, Kansas, to the NFL, chatting about his connection with Mike from CB Prime USA, and uncovering why he's got a thing for Predator pool tables.
Lauren- So Ben, we heard you grew up in Wichita, Kansas, what experiences or influences growing up shaped your love for football?
Ben- Really, it has to do with being surrounded by so many family members who also live and grew up in Wichita. I think that was able to shape my career to be as successful as I am because of the foundation of family and support back home that I have.
Lauren- Can you tell us about any influential figures or mentors who guided you during your formative years in football?
Ben- I would probably say my dad is my main mentor. He’s really close to me. I talk to him often, and he’s the reason why I know Mike Chapple. They have been friends for a very long time. That’s how I was able to come into contact with the Predator table.
Jessica- What are some features that you love about the Predator pool tables?
Ben- I think it’s a beautiful table. I find it sleek and badass. I spent a lot of time figuring out what kind of pool table I wanted to put in my basement because not only is it a financial investment, but it’s also a piece of furniture that you’re going to be looking at. So, you know, I had to make sure the wife was happy with it. Putting it in the basement meant it was something we both ended up loving.
Jessica- I know personally that our Predator pool tables, just like you said, have a very sleek modern look and I’m glad that it goes with your aesthetic and that you find it to be pleasing for sure.
Ben- And it plays awesome! I love the way it plays.
Lauren- What were some of the features that you customized? I heard you got a customized pool table.
Ben- Yeah! I went with the black felt top for it. So it’s the black table with the black felt top, making it look really mean. And with the light above it, too! The light is beautiful! I love its size; it’s really bright. It makes the pool table truly feel like the centerpiece of the room.
Lauren- How frequently do you play pool?
Ben- Once a week at least. My wife and I like to play. She’s pretty good, I’ll have to give her credit.
Lauren- Do you play with a lot of your teammates or friends as well?
Ben- Yeah, of course! Every month or so during the season, I'll have the O-line guys over, and we'll hang out in the basement. A couple of guys will pick up the sticks and play some games together.
Lauren- Are there any similarities you see between mastering the game of football and excelling at pool?
Ben- I think, especially in what I do as an O-lineman, it’s a technique-driven position, so I see those similarities between football and pool. Also, here's another good point: football is a game of technique and consistency. Those are two things I find very similar between what I do on the football field as an O-lineman and, you know, just playing pool casually.
Lauren- Reflecting on your journey from Wichita to the NFL, what lessons have you learned that you carry with you today that our audience can use as a takeaway?
Ben- I think having a strong understanding of your roots, who you are, and who you want to be as a person, and really relying on the backbone of family and the support of people who have helped you along the way is essential for achieving what you want to do and how you want to be successful in life.
Jessica- Very wise, I love that! In what ways do you unwind and relax off the field, besides playing pool?
Ben- I like to watch shows and TV with my family. I also enjoy playing Xbox with my buddies from college.
Jessica- Nice! Any recent shows that have caught your family’s attention recently?
Ben- Nothing in particular, not since we’ve had our daughter in December.
Jessica- Congratulations! That’s wonderful!
